Böhler & Orendt | Artists
Since the beginning of their artistic collaboration, Matthias Böhler and Christian Orendt have become increasingly interested in the tragic, comical and absurd political and ecological effects of human influence on the fate of the earth. In doing so, Böhler & Orendt have developed a characteristic artistic working method that could be described as media hybrid storytelling: Freely employing various hybrids of drawing, digital, sculptural, and performative techniques, as well as practices from the fields of stage design and model making, they gradually create an increasingly complex cosmos of installative narratives that often interlock or build upon one another.Their installations and performances have been exhibited internationally as well as honored with numerous prizes and grants. Böhler & Orendt's first survey exhibition, associated with the Triennale Schweinfurt prize, took place in 2018 at the Kunsthalle there. A monographic catalog raisonné has been published to accompany the exhibition, the production of which is supported by the THORWART-Jeska Foundation.
